Maria Eichhorn’s Relocating a Structure is part of the German contribution to the 18th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2023. Eichhorn’s architectural interventions from the 2022 Art Biennale will not be reversed, but actively included in the configuration of the German Pavilion for the 2023 Architecture Biennale, in dialogue with the artist. In this way, Biennale Arte and Biennale Architettura are spatially and programmatically interwoven for the first time. The tours of sites in Venice commemorating anti-fascist resistance activities, and in remembrance of the deportation of the Jewish population during the German occupation of 1943-45, will continue for the duration of the Architecture Biennale from the end of May to the end of November 2023. The German Pavilion under the title Open for Maintenance / Wegen Umbau geöffnet is curated by ARCH+, Summacumfemmer, and Büro Juliane Greb.
